Make sure you've added the befriender and service user as contacts in Togetherly. Creating and amending contacts To take part in video befriending contacts must have an email address.
Click on the Befriending tab in the top navigation bar.
Click on the New Match drop-down and select Video match.
Choose a caller by selecting a befriender from the drop-down list.
Choose a recipient by selecting a service user from the drop-down list.
Choose if you want to record the sessions.
Schedule the first session by selecting the date and time, and set the frequency and duration of future calls.
Click Create Match to save. The befriender and service user will receive their first invitation from Togetherly straight away. Reminders will also be sent 15 minutes before the start time of the session.
Adjustment's to availability
With the pre-scheduled nature of video befriending calls, any adjustments to either the befriender's or service user's availability are managed by the befriender.
Befrienders are encouraged to double-check the service user's availability for the next session during their calls. For example, ask: "We have our next call planned for next Wednesday at 2pm, are you still available?" This allows any necessary changes to be made in advance.
The befriender can cancel or reschedule a session following the steps below:
Go to the session invitation.
Click "If this time no longer works, you can reschedule here."
Find the upcoming session you wish to reschedule and click Reschedule.
Select the new date and time.
Choose if you'd like to reschedule all future sessions to take place on the new day and time as well.
Click Reschedule to save the changes.
Alternatively, if you wish to cancel the session altogether:
Click Cancel Session.
